Well done to all who took on the Hartfell Horseshoe Hill race today, it was challenging conditions where good local knowledge and navigation was an asset. A great run by Alison Banford, HHRC, to come in first female as a FV40 and she broke her own course record, in a time of 1:52:10, taking 3 minutes off the previous record. The second female was the equally inspiring FV50 Michelle Hetherington, Carnethy Hill Running Club, only just missing out in doing the course in under 2 hours at 2:00:12! Great running. Lorna Hellam, HHRC, although crossing the line in 3rd place and doing more climbing than anybody else due to taking an “alternative route” was very honest to admit she had missed out one of the CPs, this handed 3rd place to her club mate Claire Ingram FV40 who was only a few seconds behind her finishing in 2:02:36.
The senior men were also doing great, while Hamish Murray, Keswick AC, came in first in a time of 1:31:06, Andrew Cox MV40 crossed the line very sportingly together with his club mate from Moorfoot Runners, Daniel Lavin M40 for equal second place overall.
We raised £320 for Moffat Mountain Rescue Team, well done all. A big thank you to Joe and Jane the land owners for all their help, the Marshals Adrian, Nigel, Jennifer and Carolyn, Norman sweeping, on registration Alison, Claire and Carolyn and Car parking Adam and Nigel, MMRT for attending and James for handing out the prizes, help in so many ways from Louise, Nigel, Mark, Elysha, Roger and Steve, for photos Jean, John and Johnny and last but not least, all those you brought food along to for the postrace refreshments. Sorry if I have missed anyone, please let me know, everyone’s help has been invaluable today and very much appreciated.
