Lomonds Of Fife 2022
A dry day with broken cloud and a decent wind, saw 61 runners set off with the promise of an additional £50 bonus for breaking the Johnathan Crickmore and Jenny McCall's 2018 records. The course is a good mix of rough heather, landy track, stiff climbs and epic descents, so a good allrounder.
The Carnethy duo of Alistair Masson and Sasha Chepelin raced hard for the prize and traded places right up to the summit of West Lomond when Sasha edged ahead and won by minute in a new record time of 1hour, 16 minutes and 5 seconds. Alistair would have also broken the record but had to settle for a few quid and a bottle of wine. Ralph McInally, Strathearn was a comfortable 3rd.
Heather Anderson, Fife AC also romped home in 1 hour 45 minutes and 46 seconds, breaking the record by 2 minutes! Second and third female had a very good race with Catriona MacDonald of Bellahouston RR coming in ahead of Freya Ross of Falkirk Victoria by 33 seconds.
The race received excellent feedback from the runners on the route and hospitality which the Lomies are grateful for and makes our efforts worthwhile.
