The Lee Pen Hill Race (4.8km, 350m) forms part of Innerleithen's St Ronan's Border Games. The Games are the oldest organised sports meeting in Scotland dating back to 1827.
There was a decent turnout this year with 32 runners. It was won by Charles Fletcher (28:17), and Mhairi Wallace (34:08 - Penicuik Harriers). Andrew Cox (2nd overall 28:32 - Gala Harriers) & Lorna McMillan (39:15) were the first veterans home, as well as both being the first local runners too.
Also running was Robert Doherty a local fire-fighter raising funds ( https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/robert-doherty) for the town's week long St Ronan's Games festival and completed the race in full fire retardant kit and helmet. He successfully completed the race but it's fair to say international runner (and local Moorfoot Runner) Jacob Adkin's course record of 22:38 was not threatened!
